Description
A PhD position is offered in a research group active in the field of HPDs (hearing protection devices) with the goal to improve HPDs' attenuation performances, attenuation measurement and comfort. The first thesis objective is to study the variability of the HPD attenuation due to physiological events in the human body, whether they are generating sounds (chewing, swallowing, etc) or not (moving one's jaws, yawning, etc). The second thesis objective is to quantify the occlusion effect which contributes to the hearing discomfort of the hearing protectors' user as he does not recognize any more his voice when his ears are occluded by a protector.
