Passing away of Professor Eugeniusz Kozaczka

It is with deep regret that we inform you that on May 27, 2025, died Prof. Eugeniusz Kozaczka, D.Sc. Ph.D.,Eng. He was:

  • Corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Sciences,
  • Chairman of the Committee on Acoustics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (2011 – 2020),
  • Chairman of the Board of the Polish Acoustical Society (2002 – 2011),
  • Vice-Chairman of the General Board of the European Acoustical Association (2003 – 2007),
  • Chairman of the Technical Committee on Hydroacoustics of the EAA (2004 – 2018),
  • Board member of the International Commission for Acoustics (2007 – 2013),
  • Long-time employee of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Shipbuilding, Gdansk University of Technology, and the Faculty of Navigation and Ship Armament, Naval Academy in Gdynia,
  • Captain (N) in the Polish Navy.

An outstanding scientist has passed away – a man endowed with extraordinary charisma, inexhaustible energy and infectious enthusiasm. He left an indelible trace in the history of the development of acoustics in Poland – a mark of beauty, passion, and dedication to science. He was not only an example of solid scientific attitude but also the epitome of research passion and commitment to the cause. Professor Kozaczka's death is an irrefutable loss to Polish science and, in particular, to the entire community of Acousticians. He will remain in our memory as an authority, mentor, and inspiration for future generations.
