FA–Euronoise 2025 brought together 1.250 participants from 53 different nationalities, with a strong European presence (85.74%) and meaningful international participation from outside Europe (14.26%).
Attendees included EAA members (364), non-members (413), students (324), retired professionals (12), exhibitors (68), and volunteers (69).
The congress fostered engagement across career stages and fields of expertise, creating a vibrant and multidisciplinary atmosphere for knowledge exchange.
The EAA Award for Lifetime Achievements in Acoustics was presented to Prof. Avraham Hirschberg during the opening ceremony of the congress. The award recognises his outstanding scientific contributions to the fields of aeroacoustics, musical acoustics, and the study of the human voice.
Prof. Hirschberg’s distinguished career has spanned academia and industry, with pioneering research conducted at institutions including the Eindhoven University of Technology and the University of Twente. He has published extensively, supervised multiple generations of acousticians, and collaborated with leading research laboratories and industrial partners across Europe.
To promote the submission of high-quality work by young researchers, the EAA awarded six Best Student Paper Prizes, funded by the HEAD-Genuit Foundation. Each prize was worth €500.
A total of 61 applications were received. Eligible candidates had to be under 35 years of age and enrolled in a university programme (Bachelor, Master, or PhD), and be the first author and presenter of the paper. The jury included members of the EAA Technical Committees and was coordinated by the EAA General Secretary.
To facilitate the participation of early-career researchers, the EAA attributed 16 travel grants to support attendance at FA-Euronoise 2025. Each grant included:

Acta Acustica, the journal of the European Acoustics Association (EAA), has always sought to foster collaboration within the global acoustics community. The publishing team have been delighted to observe an increase in submissions year on year since 2020, most notably for subdiscipline-specific special issues. The twofold increase in downloads in 2024 compared with 2023, is also heartening, showing that these research collaborations are producing high-quality papers relevant to today’s research community.
The journal is committed to the highest levels of academic integrity and, since January 2025, is able to claim itself as truly equitable as a result of the transition to a Diamond Open Access publishing model. Read more about the opportunities this model presents in the latest Editorial (Acta Acustica, June 4th 2025).

All issues of "Acta Acustica" and "Acta Acustica united with Acustica" (1951-2019) are now freely accessible in "open access" format in "Documenta Acustica Electronica Library" (DAEL). No need for sign-in.
The European Acoustics Association (EAA) endorses events that meet its rigorous standards in the field of acoustics. This recognition is extended to National Conferences and thematic gatherings focusing on acoustics, adding value and credibility to these initiatives.
Organizers seeking EAA endorsement should submit an application to the EAA Board, ensuring it reaches us at least six (6) months before the scheduled event date. The application should provide comprehensive details, including the venue, scope, expected number of participants, and a clear articulation of the European added value. If the event is not organized by a National Society, approval from the corresponding Society where the event will be hosted is mandatory.
Following the submission, the EAA Board commits to providing a decision within 30 days. Successful endorsements will be featured in the EAA Newsletter, on the official EAA website, and periodically on the EAA Social Media channels. It's important to note that endorsed events while enjoying heightened visibility, do not entail administrative or financial support from the EAA.
This initiative underscores the EAA's commitment to fostering excellence in the realm of acoustics and providing a distinguished platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration. To explore the endorsement process and submit your event for consideration, please access the application form on our website.
